L.A. Girl Pro Conceal Review (How-to Contour & Highlight)

Hey everyone!

I’m back with a beauty review and totally excited for this one! I am reviewing the L.A. Girl Pro conceal that I have been using for the past few months for night-outs, dinners & parties. These are actually concealers/ correctors for concealing any flaws for a more even complexion, however, it is more popularly used as highlight and contour, which I personally use it for as well. As you can see below, there is a wide color range, so I am sure everyone can find their shade!

For myself, I use creamy beige as highlight and beautiful bronze as contour. I also own toast and I have to say, it is almost identical to beautiful bronze.

Creamy beige, Beautiful bronze & Toast.

Beautiful bronze & toast are ideal for contouring and goes with many different skin shades, especially fair to medium asian skin tones. The key is not the color but the blending process! Just have to blend, blend, blend until it looks natural!

The concealers come with a brush type of applicator and you have to squeeze the tube lightly for the product. A little squeeze will do the job, if not you will just be wasting the product because it just comes in huge chunks. For my contour & highlight, I will be using creamy beige and beautiful bronze.

Here’s a “before” picture without highlighting and contouring but with some basic make-up on.

Starting the contouring & highlighting process!

I believe my face shape is a mixture of oval & diamond. I have quite high cheek bones though they are not so defined. Here is a face shape chart if you are not sure which shape you are or where to put the highlight & contour. 🙂
contouring-your-face

To be honest, I am not an expert and it is only recently I have been contouring and highlighting for fun. The way I do it, is to simply follow my natural lines, such as the line under my cheek bones, the sides of my nose and under my chin area. For the highlighting, I put them right above and under the contouring of my cheeks so that it comes off natural (without any harsh lines) when I blend them. A little on the bridge of my nose ( a straight line that goes beyond to your forehead) so that my nose pops out a little more! Just a dot on my cupid’s bow and on my chin & VOILA! Now, the key is to blend!

I use a beauty blender to blend the contour first and then I blend the highlight with another sponge so that the dark and light colors do not mix. For my nose, I actually use the real technique deluxe crease brush as it is dense and perfect for my small nose! The brush does an excellent job blending in the harsh lines on the sides of my nose and I would recommend doing this if you have a smaller nose. After everything is blended in well, I go back with the beauty blender to lightly blend everything together once more. Now time for the result…!

This is the “after” picture and you can tell that my face looks more defined and sculpted!

Overall the L.A. Pro conceal works very well for contouring and highlighting! It is creamy and of quite a thick consistency, so it blends in very well. The darker shades, like beautiful bronzer is also universal and goes with so many different skin colors. It claims to be high-definition and I do agree as it conceals blemishes and dark circles quite flawlessly if used as a concealer. It does not feel sticky or too drying and tends to stay for long hours. Best part of all is that it is very affordable!

I hope you enjoyed reading this review as much as I loved doing it! Would love to hear your thoughts on them if you have tried it or if you would be interested in trying them!

Hey everyone,

It’s been a while… & life has been hectic with the starting of my internship this week. For the past few weeks, I have been mentally preparing myself for my internship at a local Secondary school in Hong Kong. For the next 4 months ( a full academic term), I will be working as a practice teacher teaching English to form 4 students and… I’m super stoked yet nervous at the same time! I also feel a major flashback to my own secondary school life such as what teacher qualities I connected with as a student (mainly as a teenager!) and what I enjoyed doing during my time there. I have to say though… it’s not so black and white where I can simply view it from my students’ perspective and mould my teaching accordingly but in reality, there is a lot of weight already burdened on our shoulders before we even begin the school year. Responsibilities to the subject, obligation to the school, coordination within different subjects and even the administrative work for the general office… all these are just some of the work we teachers have to handle. Becoming a teacher myself, I now see my old teachers in a different light and truly understand their everyday struggle, yet it still amazes me how they managed to have a smile every time we faced them! A big THANK YOU and SALUTE to all the hard-working teachers out there! I genuinely believe you are our society’s secret SUPERHEROES!

As for me, I am still a small potato who is yet to dive in the pool. A lot to learn, gain & experience and honestly… I think I am ready to jump in! ❤

Besides talking about my interesting week during my internship, I also wanted to share my first YOUTUBE video! With my noob editing skills, I hope to share memories that were captured in videos with my readers. As much as I take pictures, I take videos as well, so why not just get them into some form that I can always look back at.  I also love watching vlogs and seeing how other people live their ordinary lives, so I might even start vlogging if I get a chance!

This first video that I’m sharing is actually of my immersion trip to Australia that I went to last summer! I’ve taken so many videos with the idea of sharing it on YOUTUBE for myself to look back… & wow, I can’t believe it took me a year to start! I will be sharing more once I get time to edit and stuff.. since I do have… quite a lot, covering all my whereabouts in Australia. For now, I hope you will check out this video and maybe leave a comment & subscribe. 🙂

Thank you Ashley (Check out her blog page!!! ) for this amazing nomination! I am truly honoured and so excited as this is my first ever nomination! As mentioned in Ashley’s blog post, this award “recognizes the unique voices of bloggers around the world”! I cannot be more than happy than to be a part of this award nomination! Thank you again Ashley! If you guys haven’t checked out her blog page, here’s the link again https://reasyume.wordpress.com/  ! Be sure to say “hi”! I am sure you will fall in love with her blog page as much as I did! 🙂

2015/07/img_2733.png

Here are the rules for the award:

1. Thank and link the blogger who nominated you.
2. Answer the 10 questions your nominator has provided.
3. Nominate 10 other bloggers
4. Create 10 questions for you nominees and notify them of their nomination.

Now time to answer Ashley’s questions!

1. What do you love most about blogging?

What I love most about blogging is that it captures the moment, just like how a photograph would capture a moment visually. In the case of blogging, it’s through writing, where one’s experience can be detailedly expressed! It becomes even more meaningful when you read back in time and remember that exact moment. So I guess, what I love is how blogging can take me back to that moment, time and place!

2. If you could only use one makeup product for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Hmm… Such a difficult question this is, but I guess, I’d probably save my brows! The one product I would use for the rest of my life would be my Anastasia brow wiz. I have very little brow hair… And I love having my brows on fleek!

3. Favorite cuisine?

Another difficult questions and it’s such a dilemma between Indian or Western (American)! I love myself some meaty, juicy burgers & fries and some days, I am craving spicy, hot curry!

4. Suppose that you will die tomorrow. How will you spend today?

I would probably spend my day as usual but with a little more kindness, appreciating the day to day activities during my everyday life. I would also exchange my last goodbye with everyone who made my life worth living and do the little things that fulfilled by days, whether it be going for a cup of coffee at my favourite coffee shop or having a chill drink at a cozy bar.

5. What do you like to do for fun?

There’s nothing particular but anything that involves my besties would be a fun time! Just ordinary things like catching up for a coffee, shopping, hair-makeover, all those girly things! Other times, I do enjoy hiking, swimming and hitting the gym.

6. What’s the weirdest dream that you’ve ever had?

Recently I have been dreaming like crazy and it’s so common when Im traveling. One of the weirdest though have to be a few years back that I still recall since I wrote a post about it here.

It wasn’t crazy or anything but it gave me a weird feeling after I awakened… Like I woke up questioning my existence, whether I was real or my dream was the reality, kinda like having an inception moment.

7. Favorite quote?

I have so many quotes that it’s impossible for me to choose a favourite. Any book I read, I have something highlighted or even anything someone says, I will note it down because at that moment, it just inspires me. There really isn’t that exact one unfortunately that I die-hard stick by.

8. When traveling, which do you prioritize more: food or sights?

I guess it would be sights even though I love food equally, I’m there more for the sights, like the monuments and the history behind of those places.

9. Biggest pet peeve?

One of my biggest pet peeve would be someone who is not punctual when you had clearly decided together on the run-down of the day. I consider myself quite punctual so I feel like I have quite a low tolerance for such. In case of that, I would probably be in a bad mood through out the day.
10. Would you rather be blind or deaf?

Oh my god, this is so hard to decide.. but maybe I would rather be deaf instead of blind just cause I enjoy seeing sights. In fact, I’m pretty scared of the dark, I guess that’s why! 😀

My nominees (blogs that I enjoy reading! <3) are:

1. Reasyume

2. With All My Affection

3. Carbon & Pearls

4. Frillthrills

5. Curiosity in Style

6. The Bibliophile Diaries

7. Sincerely Aimee

8. A more beautiful you

9. Dorothea Beauty

10. Color Me Cassie

My 10 questions are:

  1. Why did you start blogging?
  2. What do you enjoy the most about blogging?
  3. What is the one most exciting/interesting thing you did this year?
  4. What is your ultimate dream?
  5. What are your top 3 current beauty products?
  6. What is the first thing in your bucket list?
  7. Where is the most beautiful place you have visited or travelled to?
  8. Do you have a favorite novel? If yes, what is it?
  9. Favourite quote you live by?
  10. If you could change one thing about our world, what would it be?

I am so excited to read all of your responses! Can’t wait!

*This post was supposed to be posted 2 weeks ago… but as I was in Nepal and internet is very limited there, I did not have sufficient resources to make it possible sooner. So here I am, back in Hong Kong, finally editing and finalizing this overdued post. Sincerely sorry for the extreme lateness 😦 nonetheless, I hope you still enjoyed reading my responses and checking out some of my favourite blog pages 🙂 !
