A Choice

Hey my lovelies!

Logged back in after ages… and what a coincidence! It’s my blog’s 3rd Anniversary!

Ever since I was little, my personal diary meant the most to me. I’ve always enjoyed writing and I always kept a journal, writing about my days, special moments, the goods and the bads. Like most, it was a way to express myself. Rather than sharing my feelings with people, I found more calming to write them down. Even today, I feel that I can express myself better in writing than doing it verbally.

Before this blog, I had other blogs as well, such as xanga, blogspotย and so on, however, 3 years ago, I decided to make this one an official one so that all my thoughts and experiences could be saved in one place. Besides that, I also wanted to put myself out there in the big cyber world. I wanted to share myself, meet other bloggers and hopefully gain something from them!

Today, I am admitting that I have not achieved what I decided to achieve 3 years ago. I definitely don’t have a big following, I occasionally post and I hardly keep in touch with people I’ve met in here! And what I realized is that, it was not because I could not achieve it or was not lucky enough, but it was the CHOICE I made. All this time, my time was shifted somewhere else in my life, graduating with honours, moving house and starting a new job! I can say that all these things occupied my time and so I did not have the time for this blog, but I’d be lying because truth is, we can always make time for things we really want and this blog is something that I want to work for.

From today, I am making another CHOICE, which I should have done long ago. I am going to put my full effort in this blog and stay consistent with it. If you have been reading til here,ย some wise words of motivation would help me to keep going. Or if you see yourself in me, be sure to share your thoughts! I would appreciate any type of feedback.

Love,

So far, so good.ย

Hey lovelies!
2016 is quickly becoming my year of experimenting. I feel like I’m doing things spontaneously, going with the flow vibe. It’s my last year finishing my undergrad and after that I would have to immerse in reality, work, career & just life in general.

So, I’m taking full advantage of this last year in undergrad school, experimenting different things & finding me, before I lose me in the real world.

For instance,    I dyed my hair oneday when I felt like I needed change. I wish I was brave enough to go full blonde tho, but the thought of bleaching my hair was just unbearable. Maybe someday, when my hair is healthier!

The other day,   I’ve heard so much about eye-lash extensions, which are fake eyelashes attached to your real eyelashes to give you semi-permanent, full looking lashes. I tried it out for myself as I have almost non-existent lashes.

Excuse my eyebrow, but my lashes look almost doll-like! I was hating them the first day and though it’s high maintenance, I’m growing to love them on me. I will write a post on my eyelash extension experience after they reach their life-span (which should be around 1 month if taken good care!).

I have also started going back to the gym and regaining my stamina. Working out has become my ultimate stress reliever! I’m also making small changes to my lifestyle & changing things on my plate bit by bit! ๐Ÿ™‚

Another thing I am doing more often, I’ve been snapchatting daily just for the fun of it! Indeed it is so entertaining playing with the filters and making fun of myself …& my friends ofcourse! This is the social platform I’m currently most active in. Add me ๐Ÿ‘ป@ roshpun if you wanna see my daily runabouts!

Lastly,      I’ve been appreciating my uni days so much more as I am quickly finishing up with my courses & school life! Boy, no matter how stressful deadlines made me feel, I’m gonna miss those days, laughing too much with my mates over project works!

Sorry for the pointless ramble but that’s all I’ve been up to. & so far, it’s been good. What about you guys?

Lip kit by Kylie: Thoughts

Hey lovelies!

I heard that the new lip kit by Kylie was a sold out within an hour or so! Not that I witnessed it because I had no idea she was out with her lip range, but as many of us may have already seen or heard about the Kylie Jenner lip challenge, which was somehow notorious, you might be interested. The lip kit actually, (I can’t believe I’m saying this to someone I don’t really want to say much about), but it looks quite nice.

She has come out with 3 neutral, nude shades: Candy K, Dolce K & True Brown. (Pictures retrieved from the official website)

candyk61

dolcek51

truebrownk31

Candy K & Dolce K looks very similar indeed but in the swatches they vary in deepness of the color. Candy K is a lighter nude and Dolce K is a bit darker. True brown is simply a lavish chocolate brown, very true to its name. I really wanna try Candy K!!!

lip-kit-by-kylie-01

Each kit comes with the liquid lipstick that finishes matte & its lip liner, retailing for $29 USD. I guess it’s pretty reasonable considering it is marketed as higher brand and you actually get 2 products in the set.ย I love the packaging! It’s pretty unique!

Lip_Kit_By_Kylie_Hauterfly

As stated in its website, the formula for these lipsticks are liquid when applied and then dries down to a powdery soft matte finish. I’m guessing it may be very similar to the NYX Soft matte lipsticks but perhaps more long-lasting so that it’s worth it in its retail value.

It seems that Kylie worked on it for a while and I’m glad to see her do something with her fame. I’m sure there are so many dupes and what not that has already been in the market but even if it is selling off of her name, at least she is doing something for her own namesake!

What are your thoughts on the new Lip Kit by Kylie? Did you get a chance to try them or would you try them out?

Would love to hear ya’all lovelies thoughts on it.

Top 5: Everyday Lipsticks (Swatches)

Hello loves!

I know I always start with saying “it’s been a while”, but this whole month of November, I have been literally MIA from my blog. I can’t believe November is almost over and I did not even write 1 post, though I have been reading a couple of yours and checking other blogs in my spare time.

Anyway, for an update, it has finally began to be cooler in Hong Kong in the past couple of days ( for some reason, we had a very late start to Winter this year!) and I can officially say it’s Winter here! Besides that, I am finally getting a hang of my life as a secondary teacher. I feel like I spend my whole day at the school and because of that I have grown to love it and see it as a part of my daily life. Now that I think about it, it might be a tad bit hard to leave my students after my practice phase :(.

Ok, enough with the long intro! Today I’ll be sharing my top 5 everyday lipsticks that I wear literally everyday, of course rotating each at a time but not all at once! LOL! I wear these lipsticks at school as a teacher too and it makes my teacherly-look a little less dull! Just a natural flush to the lips!

IMG_8329

From left, I have the NYX matte lipstick in “Euro trash”, LA Girl in “Snuggle”, NYX soft mattes in “Cannes” & “Stockholm” and lastly, the Milani lipstick in “Naturally Chic” (I love the name of this!)

IMG_8335

As you can see, they are in the same color family! They all are a mauvy-pinkish- nude! I guess I am just naturally drawn into this color family! I think this is the lipstick shade anyone with any skin tone can rock and still look very beautiful & natural on them! These are also more safe/ comfort-zone sort of shades that you can confidently wear!

IMG_8345

Here are the beautiful swatches under natural light. Some are more mauvy or pinky and even peachy! I really can’t pick my favourite but if I really had to I would say “Stockholm”, just because the peachy-ness gives me such a fresh look when wearing at daytime.

For everyday use, I prefer and would recommend tube lipsticks or creamy ones rather than liquid lipsticks as they are more moisturising and forgiving when it comes to precision application. The NYX soft mattes are however, exceptional! They look like they could be in liquid forms but actually they are of creamy-consistency and applies like a dream (very soft as stated!). They have become one of my all-time favourite lipstick formulas!

IMG_8341

So, if you are looking for everyday lipsticks and are totally into these kind of shades, you should definitely try one of these!

What are your top 5 everyday lipsticks or your everyday lipstick in general? I would love to know them and see how similar or different we are! ๐Ÿ˜€

Zoeva Rose Golden Luxury Set Brush Review

Hello everyone!

How’s everyone’s week going so far? We’re in the middle of the week… and I can’t help but count down the days till weekend! Anyway, today I wanted to share my love for these Rose Golden Luxury set by Zoeva that I got two months ago. Zoeva is a German cosmetic brand that hasn’t been around for too long, however, I do believe that it is quickly becoming well-known in the beauty & cosmetic industry. Watching a review on Youtube on one of their brush sets a few years back,ย I’ve been drooling over their brushes! I just love how elegant and chic they look and when I saw this rose golden set, I just had to try it out for myself!

IMG_4976

The whole packaging was very secure, nicely bundled up in bubble-wraps. It also came with a note with the person’s name that packed it, adding a lovely personal touch to it! Also, all brush sets come with its own clutch, usually color co-ordinating with the brushes, so of course, for this rose golden set, it was a lovely deep brown with gold detailing, very luxury-looking indeed!

IMG_4986

There’s just something about rose gold that makes anything instantly expensive & elegant! I also love how the hair on some of brushes are white and how the brushes have their names (according to its function) labelled on. The Rose Golden Luxury set comes with 8 brushes, 4 that are ideally for face and the other 4 for eyes. I think it is a very good starter brush set if you do not own any brushes yet! The quality is also just as amazing as its appearance.

rose-golden-luxury-set-l-02

As shown in the picture above, for face brushes, you have a silk finish brush (ideal for foundation, contour & any liquid makeup), powder brush, a face shape brush (great for precise contouring, sculpting, concealer, etc) and a luxe sheer cheek brush (basically an angled brush that is great for contouring, highlighting & blush). My favourite is the luxe sheer cheek brush! It is super soft and nicely angled that applies bronzer, contour & blushes very nicely.

rose-golden-luxury-set-l-03

For the smaller brushes, you get a concealer buffer brush (for blending in concealer), a luxe soft definer brush (to pack on eyeshadow & blend), a petite crease brush (for blending at the crease area) and a wing liner brush. I have been loving the petite crease brush because it works so perfectly for my smaller asian eyes!

I am very impressed with the quality of these brushes, considering its price, which is 65euros, I think you truly get what you pay for! Super soft, sturdy handles & hasn’t shed yet! You also get a cute clutch with it! I would totally recommend this gorgeous brush set (or any Zoeva brush sets)ย if you are looking to splurge a little on some high quality, beautiful brushes!

Mood: Bloomy (OOTD)

It was super gloomy and rained bits and bops the other day. It seemed like the weather god couldn’t decide whether to rain full-on or just stay moody, so as highly influenced by the mood, I felt like I dressed a little gloomy too. Here, I’m sharing my outfit of the day that was very much inspired by the weather.

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

As you can tell, my outfit involved a lot of dark and blue hues of colors.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

I am always looking for an excuse to wear stripes, thus here I am wearing my white and dark blue striped T-shirt, which is the comfiest and the easiest piece to throw on! I also wore my Buddhist beaded necklace from Nepal to add a little something to the casual striped tee.

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

A loose denim shirt is one of my favourite go-to staple to wear when it gets a little chilly outside. It was perfect for the wet and cool weather as it is not overly thick.

I added another hue of blue with my dark washed high-waisted blue jeans from American Eagle. By the way, I am totally obsessed with American Eagle Jeans! It’s become my favourite place to shop for jeans! These are the kinds that are super-stretchy material and they are very good quality and well-made. They hug my lower body so tightly yet I can totally run & jump on them! They are sooooooo comfortable!

It was probably not a good idea to wear those velvet flats though as the rain water kinda soaked the velvet. Oh well! At least it matched my bag!

Anyways, here I am feeling a little hopeful for a brighter day! Even though I love cooler, gloomy days like this, I was already missing the usual bright (not the humid or heat though, just the sunshine :D) Hong Kong!

Hope you enjoyed reading about my outfit of the day. Do share if you dress according to the weather mood like me! ๐Ÿ™‚

L.A. Girl Pro Conceal Review (How-to Contour & Highlight)

Hey everyone!

I’m back with a beauty review and totally excited for this one! I am reviewing the L.A. Girl Pro conceal that I have been using for the past few months for night-outs, dinners & parties. These are actually concealers/ correctors for concealing any flaws for a more even complexion, however, it is more popularly used as highlight and contour, which I personally use it for as well. As you can see below, there is a wide color range, so I am sure everyone can find their shade!

la girl

For myself, I use creamy beige as highlight and beautiful bronze as contour. I also own toast and I have to say, it is almost identical to beautiful bronze.

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

Creamy beige, Beautiful bronze & Toast.

Beautiful bronze & toast are ideal for contouring and goes with many different skin shades, especially fair to medium asian skin tones. The key is not the color but the blending process! Just have to blend, blend, blend until it looks natural!

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 presetย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

The concealers come with a brush type of applicator and you have to squeeze the tube lightly for the product. A little squeeze will do the job, if not you will just be wasting the product because it just comes in huge chunks. For my contour & highlight, I will be using creamy beige and beautiful bronze.

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

Here’s a “before” picture without highlighting and contouring but with some basic make-up on.ย

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with c1 preset Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

Starting the contouring & highlighting process!

I believe my face shape is a mixture of oval & diamond. I have quite high cheek bones though they are not so defined. Here is a face shape chart if you are not sure which shape you are or where to put the highlight & contour. ๐Ÿ™‚
contouring-your-face

To be honest, I am not an expert and it is only recently I have been contouring and highlighting for fun. The way I do it, is to simply follow my natural lines, such as the line under my cheek bones, the sides of my nose and under my chin area. For the highlighting, I put them right above and under the contouring of my cheeks so that it comes off natural (without any harsh lines) when I blend them. A little on the bridge of my nose ( a straight line that goes beyond to your forehead) so that my nose pops out a little more! Just a dot on my cupid’s bow and on my chin & VOILA! Now, the key is to blend!ย

I use a beauty blender to blend the contour first and then I blend the highlight with another sponge so that the dark and light colors do not mix. For my nose, I actually use the real technique deluxe crease brush as it is dense and perfect for my small nose! Theย brush does an excellent job blending in the harsh lines on the sides of my nose and I would recommend doing this if you have a smaller nose. After everything is blended in well, I go back with the beauty blender to lightly blend everything together once more. Now time for the result…!

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

This is the “after” picture and you can tell that my face looks more defined and sculpted!

Overall the L.A. Pro conceal works very well for contouring and highlighting! It is creamy and of quite a thick consistency, so it blends in very well. The darker shades, like beautiful bronzer is also universal and goes with so many different skin colors. It claims to be high-definition and I do agree as it conceals blemishes and dark circles quite flawlessly if used as a concealer. It does not feel sticky or too drying and tends to stay for long hours. Best part of all is that it is very affordable!

I hope you enjoyed reading this review as much as I loved doing it! Would love to hear your thoughts on them if you have tried it or if you would be interested in trying them!

Exploring Home finally…

For the last 2 years, I feel like I have been away for the Summer, which is true; getting myself involved in an exchange programme the first summer and being away for immersion last summer in Australia. For a long time, I haven’t been home (Hong Kong), while most people prefer to be somewhere else taking a tropical vacation, I was actually pretty excited to finally be home and what better time to explore the place than summer time!

Last Friday, me and my bestie took a casual trip to Sai Kung, which is almost 2 hours away from where I live by train. We had to take an additional 10 minute minibus ride since it was quite remote. Well, just like any other trip, the commuting is worth it when you finally reach the destination!

Here’s one of the first shots we took.

You can tell already that it was a very chill & relaxed place. There’s just something so calm about the water that instantly makes everything just flow.

If you are in Hong Kong, this place is called Sai Kung waterfront park. It is basically a long promenade overlooking the sea.

You could hop on different cruises that would take you to some hidden beaches and other activities like snorkelling and boating. For us, these had to wait for another day!

We decided to just stroll around the local town, which was in fact more like a neighbourhood. A very friendly one indeed!

By the way, if you love seafood, I think this would be a mini food heaven for you!

So first things first, we were starving after that long journey and what better way than to have a meaty burger to devour the hunger!

We went to this really cute restaurant/ cafe called “Jam” (btw, there were many unique little cafes that were so homely that you wouldn’t find at city centers with a really good eye for design & archecture that let off very bohemian & retro vibes!)

The lemonade was the perfect choice to refresh and it was sooo good! The milkshake I ordered was quite unique, it was “Apple & Cinnamon” flavored and it was quite a twist to regular milkshakes that I really enjoyed!

The food was very good and it literally took “Jam” into all of their dishes! Can you believe I had my fries with Jam? I asked for Ketchup but they didn’t have it! I think the patty was somehow seasoned with some Jam juice because it was very juicy with an interesting slight sweetness!

The chicken salad was excellent though! I really enjoyed the balance of sweetness & sour!

After lunch, we had a quick stroll and shopped at this vintage shop called “Vintage” (very original isn’t it!) It really was a true vintage shop where you could find almost anything and being a 90s kid, I was pretty excited to see some familiar things!

Just opposite to the vintage shop was this retro-looking cafe called “Five Coffee Company” and they served original coffees! Not the ones you find at starbucks but authentic coffee beans that you could smell from afar! They had other choices of drinks too, such as beers & juices and light snacks!

We went for an iced latte to beat the heat and it was the perfect atmosphere to ponder upon life and silly things!

Here’s my friend posing for a shot (though we really did discussed stuff & took some notes!) haha ๐Ÿ˜†

After a coffee break we decided to walk till the end of the promenade. The wind was blowing and there were many four-legged friends walking along too!

Seeing a lot of people on the water, literally walking as the water was quite shallow, we decided to try as well!

It was an amazing experience literally walking on water. It took us a while to reach the sand area in the middle of the sea.

Finally reached it! This was actually in the middle of the shallow sea. Then we made our way across to the beach side!

Made it to the mini beach!

You can still see people so far away in the water! That was how shallow the sea was!

Of course us, being girls, we had to take our routine selfies and pout lips are always a must! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Here’s a little outfit of the day I tried to take with the colourful kayaks!

I felt that my outfit was very coachella inspired! A very unintentional though! All that mattered was that it was comfy and very appropriate for the weather!

Oh by the way, we saw cows as well just chilling like any other day munching the grass!

And of course, I had to take this mandatory follow-me- around picture to complete my little adventure!

How is your summer so far? Hope you too are enjoying exploring new or even old places!
Xoxo,

Oddinary Girl

Do it for you :)

Hey Everyone? How are you enjoying June so far? As for me, I am caught up in work as I am working full-time for the Summer and it feels like I haven’t even been able to just relax in my own corner at home.

After quite a hectic week, I finally took the evening to simply relax in my own comfortable place; my bedroom. Sometimes, there are times when we feel so drenched from our daily routine, making us monotonous and bored about our own lives, so, it’s always good to take some time to do you, to be you and to rejuvenate you. This was one of those nights for me.

A hot bath is always a greater option but when you don’t have a bathtub, a soothing shower will do. One of the calmest place for me is the beach and I love the feel and sound of the waves, so today, I used the Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub from Lush to make my shower a bit more interesting! This was my first time using it and I love it so much already! The scrub is actually so smooth on the skin and melts as you rub it on. It extracts dead skin and keeps skin moisturized. The best part about it is that it smells exactly like the ocean or the beach, like you have just taken a dip in the water!

IMG_2971

Of course I had to burn my new favorite candle, Coconut Leaves, from the body shop. I have always been a coconut fan! I feel like there are two kinds of people, the first kind who cannot stand the scent of coconut (like my bestie) and the latter who are in love with the scent. I am one of those people that fits in the latter category!

IMG_2968

Well, I had to show my skin some love as well! So I had on this amazing face mask by a Korean brand, Beauty Friends. Korean brands usually produce one of the best masks in the market, so I wasn’t surprised when this mask left my skin feeling extra bright, smooth and soft! There is also something so soothing about aloe vera and I usually go for these green-packaged masks! My skin finally feels like it is breathing again!

IMG_2969

I do not usually drink hot tea or any sort of herbal drinks before bed, but sometimes I do like to drink something warm for my soul. This is a type of green-tea that is supposed to help with digestion and to detoxify the body. I always feel so much lighter after drinking this tea and it’s just nice to have something to sip on while you relax.

IMG_2983

So, there goes my alone-time, an evening well-spent relaxing, chilling and hearing my own thoughts in my comfiest place. Lastly, here’s a little message from the little corner of my wall to you, “Cherish every memory, Love every moment and Embrace every possibility.” I guess that’s what life is all about, to cherish, love and embrace and from my own experience, just to do it for you!  IMG_2978

A sort-of Gladiators

Hey everyone! Hope everyone is having a good month so far cuz do I have to mention that we are approaching its final days! Maybe it’s just me, but I get so emotional in a sort of weird way when it comes to the final few days of the month because I can’t seem to figure out where my days went!

So to keep one of my 2015 resolutions alive, I have decided to share a little outfit of the day (ootd) during my weekend in Macau, featuring my new gladiator sandals!

Nothing interesting when it comes to black, but I love how this all black outfit makes the gladiator sandals pop out a bit more! I have been seeing so many amazing gladitors everywhere and especially that are knee- high length and I am totally loving them!

The ones that I’m rocking are a little above the ankle length and they give pretty much a similar look compared to the knee-high length. A little less intimidating for those that prefer subtle and easier to style in my opinion! It’s also alot practical to just slide it on and if you have to be going in and out, then probably these ankle-length is more suitable!

ย (Pictures of knee-high length gladiator sandals retrieved from pinterest)

The knee-high length however, is the total bomb! I am loving how Vanessa Hudgens has styled them, so effortless and casual! I’m sure these knee-high lengths will make any outfit standout of the crowd!

So, here’s my take on the more modest length gladiator that I picked up from Forever 21! It’s sort-of there… But maybe I’ll gather my confidence to wear the real-deal (knee-high length) once I get more wear out of these that I currently own!

Which one would you totally rock? Ankle-length, knee-high length? Let me know your thoughts!
