So far, so good.Β

Hey lovelies!
2016 is quickly becoming my year of experimenting. I feel like I’m doing things spontaneously, going with the flow vibe. It’s my last year finishing my undergrad and after that I would have to immerse in reality, work, career & just life in general.

So, I’m taking full advantage of this last year in undergrad school, experimenting different things & finding me, before I lose me in the real world.

For instance,    I dyed my hair oneday when I felt like I needed change. I wish I was brave enough to go full blonde tho, but the thought of bleaching my hair was just unbearable. Maybe someday, when my hair is healthier!

The other day,   I’ve heard so much about eye-lash extensions, which are fake eyelashes attached to your real eyelashes to give you semi-permanent, full looking lashes. I tried it out for myself as I have almost non-existent lashes.

Excuse my eyebrow, but my lashes look almost doll-like! I was hating them the first day and though it’s high maintenance, I’m growing to love them on me. I will write a post on my eyelash extension experience after they reach their life-span (which should be around 1 month if taken good care!).

I have also started going back to the gym and regaining my stamina. Working out has become my ultimate stress reliever! I’m also making small changes to my lifestyle & changing things on my plate bit by bit! πŸ™‚

Another thing I am doing more often, I’ve been snapchatting daily just for the fun of it! Indeed it is so entertaining playing with the filters and making fun of myself …& my friends ofcourse! This is the social platform I’m currently most active in. Add me πŸ‘»@ roshpun if you wanna see my daily runabouts!

Lastly,      I’ve been appreciating my uni days so much more as I am quickly finishing up with my courses & school life! Boy, no matter how stressful deadlines made me feel, I’m gonna miss those days, laughing too much with my mates over project works!

Sorry for the pointless ramble but that’s all I’ve been up to. & so far, it’s been good. What about you guys?

Top 5: Everyday Lipsticks (Swatches)

Hello loves!

I know I always start with saying “it’s been a while”, but this whole month of November, I have been literally MIA from my blog. I can’t believe November is almost over and I did not even write 1 post, though I have been reading a couple of yours and checking other blogs in my spare time.

Anyway, for an update, it has finally began to be cooler in Hong Kong in the past couple of days ( for some reason, we had a very late start to Winter this year!) and I can officially say it’s Winter here! Besides that, I am finally getting a hang of my life as a secondary teacher. I feel like I spend my whole day at the school and because of that I have grown to love it and see it as a part of my daily life. Now that I think about it, it might be a tad bit hard to leave my students after my practice phase :(.

Ok, enough with the long intro! Today I’ll be sharing my top 5 everyday lipsticks that I wear literally everyday, of course rotating each at a time but not all at once! LOL! I wear these lipsticks at school as a teacher too and it makes my teacherly-look a little less dull! Just a natural flush to the lips!

IMG_8329

From left, I have the NYX matte lipstick in “Euro trash”, LA Girl in “Snuggle”, NYX soft mattes in “Cannes” & “Stockholm” and lastly, the Milani lipstick in “Naturally Chic” (I love the name of this!)

IMG_8335

As you can see, they are in the same color family! They all are a mauvy-pinkish- nude! I guess I am just naturally drawn into this color family! I think this is the lipstick shade anyone with any skin tone can rock and still look very beautiful & natural on them! These are also more safe/ comfort-zone sort of shades that you can confidently wear!

IMG_8345

Here are the beautiful swatches under natural light. Some are more mauvy or pinky and even peachy! I really can’t pick my favourite but if I really had to I would say “Stockholm”, just because the peachy-ness gives me such a fresh look when wearing at daytime.

For everyday use, I prefer and would recommend tube lipsticks or creamy ones rather than liquid lipsticks as they are more moisturising and forgiving when it comes to precision application. The NYX soft mattes are however, exceptional! They look like they could be in liquid forms but actually they are of creamy-consistency and applies like a dream (very soft as stated!). They have become one of my all-time favourite lipstick formulas!

IMG_8341

So, if you are looking for everyday lipsticks and are totally into these kind of shades, you should definitely try one of these!

What are your top 5 everyday lipsticks or your everyday lipstick in general? I would love to know them and see how similar or different we are! πŸ˜€

Zoeva Rose Golden Luxury Set Brush Review

Hello everyone!

How’s everyone’s week going so far? We’re in the middle of the week… and I can’t help but count down the days till weekend! Anyway, today I wanted to share my love for these Rose Golden Luxury set by Zoeva that I got two months ago. Zoeva is a German cosmetic brand that hasn’t been around for too long, however, I do believe that it is quickly becoming well-known in the beauty & cosmetic industry. Watching a review on Youtube on one of their brush sets a few years back,Β I’ve been drooling over their brushes! I just love how elegant and chic they look and when I saw this rose golden set, I just had to try it out for myself!

IMG_4976

The whole packaging was very secure, nicely bundled up in bubble-wraps. It also came with a note with the person’s name that packed it, adding a lovely personal touch to it! Also, all brush sets come with its own clutch, usually color co-ordinating with the brushes, so of course, for this rose golden set, it was a lovely deep brown with gold detailing, very luxury-looking indeed!

IMG_4986

There’s just something about rose gold that makes anything instantly expensive & elegant! I also love how the hair on some of brushes are white and how the brushes have their names (according to its function) labelled on. The Rose Golden Luxury set comes with 8 brushes, 4 that are ideally for face and the other 4 for eyes. I think it is a very good starter brush set if you do not own any brushes yet! The quality is also just as amazing as its appearance.

As shown in the picture above, for face brushes, you have a silk finish brush (ideal for foundation, contour & any liquid makeup), powder brush, a face shape brush (great for precise contouring, sculpting, concealer, etc) and a luxe sheer cheek brush (basically an angled brush that is great for contouring, highlighting & blush). My favourite is the luxe sheer cheek brush! It is super soft and nicely angled that applies bronzer, contour & blushes very nicely.

For the smaller brushes, you get a concealer buffer brush (for blending in concealer), a luxe soft definer brush (to pack on eyeshadow & blend), a petite crease brush (for blending at the crease area) and a wing liner brush. I have been loving the petite crease brush because it works so perfectly for my smaller asian eyes!

I am very impressed with the quality of these brushes, considering its price, which is 65euros, I think you truly get what you pay for! Super soft, sturdy handles & hasn’t shed yet! You also get a cute clutch with it! I would totally recommend this gorgeous brush set (or any Zoeva brush sets)Β if you are looking to splurge a little on some high quality, beautiful brushes!

Find me on YOUTUBE?

Hey everyone,

It’s been a while… & life has been hectic with the starting of my internship this week. For the past few weeks, I have been mentally preparing myself for my internship at a local Secondary school in Hong Kong. For the next 4 months ( a full academic term), I will be working as a practice teacher teaching English to form 4 students and… I’m super stoked yet nervous at the same time! I also feel a major flashback to my own secondary school life such as what teacher qualities I connected with as a student (mainly as a teenager!) and what I enjoyed doing during my time there. I have to say though… it’s not so black and white where I can simply view it from my students’ perspective and mould my teaching accordingly but in reality, there is a lot of weight already burdened on our shoulders before we even begin the school year. Responsibilities to the subject, obligation to the school, coordination within different subjects and even the administrative work for the general office… all these are just some of the work we teachers have to handle. Becoming a teacher myself, I now see my old teachers in a different light and truly understand their everyday struggle, yet it still amazes me how they managed to have a smile every time we faced them! A big THANK YOU and SALUTE to all the hard-working teachers out there! I genuinely believe you are our society’s secret SUPERHEROES!

As for me, I am still a small potato who is yet to dive in the pool. A lot to learn, gain & experience and honestly… I think I am ready to jump in! ❀

Besides talking about my interesting week during my internship, I also wanted to share my first YOUTUBE video! With my noob editing skills, I hope to share memories that were captured in videos with my readers. As much as I take pictures, I take videos as well, so why not just get them into some form that I can always look back at. Β I also love watching vlogs and seeing how other people live their ordinary lives, so IΒ might even start vlogging if I get a chance!

This first video that I’m sharing is actually of my immersion trip to Australia that I went to last summer! I’ve taken so many videos with the idea of sharing it on YOUTUBE for myself to look back… & wow, I can’t believe it took me a year to start! I will be sharing more once I get time to edit and stuff.. since I do have… quite a lot, covering all my whereabouts in Australia. For now, I hope you will check out this video and maybe leave a comment & subscribe. πŸ™‚

Down the Memory lane: Childhood

It has been a good 4 days at the village, in nepali terms “Gau” where my family originally is from and my birth place. To be honest, I am surprised how much I am enjoying my stay despite the constant electricity & fresh water shortage.

My grandparents have finally decided to settle down and so, finally getting to build their dream house next to the one that raised their children and for the first 4 years, me.

Thank god we have a back-up system at our new house that recharges using solar, which comes in handy when power cuts off, so we can still manage basic accommodations such as the ceiling fan (which is a must for Nepal’s Summer) and the lights around the house.

I can’t pin my favourite part but… One of the thing about staying here is the fresh air & water (when it’s available)! The water comes directly from the mountains and is filtered naturally… So you can only imagine how pure it is!

That’s the view behind our place and I can never get tired of seeing so many greens and rice fields everywhere! Also, my grandfather is a superman; he grows corns, guavas, lemons, chillies and so many more at our backyard!

Okay, I guess I lied, my favourite would definitely be just chilling and killing time with my grandparents and Pappy, our little furry family member!

There’s Pappy and my grandpa! He sincerely has a soft heart for animals!

When asking my grandma to smile, there’s the outcome. She always replies, “how do I smile? Like this.. Eeee?!” and goes laughing about how she doesn’t have the teeth to do so! Haha!

We also get a lot of love from our opposite door neighbour (a kitten), meowing at our doorsteps, unfortunately, Pappy’s sworn enemy.
Another amazing thing about going back to the village is discovering gems that hold so dear memories!

For instance, our old kitchen is literally the place my mum gave birth to me! Of course, the kitchen was more traditional back then, but can you imagine??!

Another thing is going through my things (Thankful my grandparents still preserved them as it was!), even though I cannot recall everything, it’s fun hearing stories related to the objects. Heres a picture of me I would like to share… I was probably around 3 at that time!

My hair was a mess, it didn’t start growing until later. I guess the one thing I can say is that I’ve had pixie short length hair once in my life ! Also, my mum always complain about the fashion disaster caused by my dad in that picture!

I am in love with this place and so glad I got to come back and revisit my childhood! It’s funny how a lot people call out to me when I’m out strolling with the family, “Roshani hoina yo?!!” (Isn’t this Roshani?!) in complete shock! So many unfamiliar faces but amazed after all these years they still remember that little child!

I cannot even begin to describe my experience here but through this short sharing, I hope I can remind myself the beauty in simplicity that’s so rich in this field full of emeralds!

I hope you all are having a wonderful experience this summer!

Xoxo,

Pray for Nepal

I am still in shock… And the more I keep thinking, the more my heart breaks in pieces and tears run down the corners of my eyes. Nepal was hit by a 7.9 magnitude earthquake this noon and all parts of Nepal had felt the earthquake, especially affecting Kathmandu and Pokhara. As a nepali living aboard, I feel even more helpless for my country… & it is the worst feeling ever. All I can do on my side is pray and help in any way I can possible.

One of our oldest historic landmark, Dharahara was brought down and it kills me that along with many of our nation’s possession, so many innocent souls have been lost today.

I remember vaguely climbing the Dharhara in 2006 as a 14 year old when I went for a visit after more than a decade. At that time, I didn’t care for it but now knowing that it is gone & never will be able to do it… I have come to appreciate it. This is a true reminder how we sometimes take things for granted… Once there, forever gone.

I pray for all the lost souls, safety of those that made through and for the healing of my beautiful country.  Please keep Nepal in your prayers… For we will stand stronger.

#prayfornepal & #staystrongnepal

* I do not own these images.

Dear Mum,

It was Mother’s day in Nepal yesterday and I actually found out thanks to facebook during my morning scrolling routine! I was already confused last month, seeing all my friends in UK wishing their mothers and I thought I had missed it, only to realize that it was UK’s mother’s day. That’s how I learnt that different places had their own date for mother’s day. Here in Hong Kong, it is sometime in May. For many of us, coming from Nepal to Hong Kong, I guess our mothers get the best of both places!

When I think of my mother, instantly it is tears that fill my eyes because I can’t believe how blessed I am to be her daughter! She is the most significant part of my life and it is because of her, I have the world. There aren’tΒ any amount of words that can completely compare to what she means to me and even writing this, makes my heart melt with so much love.

Thank you mummy (i am still a little girl with my mum! :P) for giving me the world and always being my backbone selflessly. I can’t tell you how much I love you but I will keep trying, so here is my never-ending attempt, I love you so much.

Yours truly,

Daughter πŸ™‚

LASplash Splurge! Liquid Lipsticks Review

IMG_1627

I have never been a make-up junkie and rarely would I buy make-up, but recently with the emergence of beauty channels and gurus in youtube, it’s quite unavoidable to not want to experiment with make-up! This is my first ever make-up post and I thought a quick review on these LASplash liquid lipsticks would be fun to share! They are amazing if you love intense pigmented lipsticks with matte finish that will stay on all day! There are actually 3 ranges; lip coutures, lip smittens and lip lustres. The lip couture (gold cap) is more liquidy in formula, while the lip smitten (pink cap) is more creamy in application. The lip lustres (silver cap) are pretty similar to the lip coutures, except the lipstick itself contains some shimmer for that shine effect. Β But honestly, I feel like they are pretty much similar! They literally are also everything proof and only an oil-based makeup remover will take this beast off ya lips!

IMG_1589

Here I will share 5 of the LASplash lipsticks I own and totally loveee!

IMG_1628

From left: Latte confession, Rose garden, Enchanted, Vampire & Faline. My favourite is definitely Latte Confession! It is the perfect blend of nude and mauvy pink and is just fit for everyday! By the way, if you’ve tried Lime Crime’s Pink Velvet,Β Enchanted (bright pink) is pretty much a dupe for it!

Now time for some lip actions! Btw, excuse me but I am quite sloppy in applying liquid lipsticks (still learning..! >.<) but I hope these lip swatches will show you the true value of these amazing lipsticks!

IMG_1626

So that is that, I am totally in love with these lippies! & if you are on the look-out for something bold & forever-lasting, I really suggest you check these out! Would love to know which one is your favourite and what your thoughts are on them if you have tried them!

Bringing back 90s

IMG_0286.JPG

“Omg! I remember this when I was in like… in Elementary!”

“Bringing back the high school days eyy!”

“What are these called again…? Oh right! Chokers!”

The top 3 remarks of that day when I wore this tattoo choker for the first time at Uni. Well to sum it up, all I can say is that trends/fashion never go out of style since these 90s chokers are definitely making its huge comeback and they are defo conversation starters! Win/Win and I love them!

Shout Out MO MO…

Shout Out MO MO !!!

I was feeling rather lonely the other day, not having seen a single Nepalese soul, when all my friends had found a friend or two of their nationality. It’s not that I preferred Nepalese friends but it would have definitely helped to ease the pain of being homesick. I really envied the connection and I wished I had a friend I could speak Nepali with. Anyway, since I have bee here and the topic of food would come in, I never missed a chance to mention Mo mo, which every Nepalese could never have enough of.

Coming out of the gym, I spotted a guy on his bike, who I thought looked like he could be a “Nepalese”.

Me: “OMGGG!! HE LOOKS LIKE A NEPALI!!!!”

Friend: “Maybe he is! Go talk to him!!!”

Me:Β “Noo.. that would be really weird.. ! lol”

And my friend did the most outrageous and silly thing I never imagined!

Friend: “MO MO!! MO MO!!!”

She went on.. loud enough for the guy to hear.

Me: “OMGG! What are you doing?!!” I said, laughing my head off.

Friend: “Surely he would have turned around if he was a Nepalese..!”

Thanks to my smart friend, that’s one method I’ve learnt to spot and hopefully bond with a Nepalese.
