Spring Favs<3: Makeup Haul

Hey Lovelies!

The warmer weather is in and it’s floral season! I have been trying some new make-up products and I am loving each and every one of them! So, here I am sharing my thoughts & briefly reviewing them, thus, perhaps you would like to try them out too!

1. Etude House- Cleansing TissueI’ve been using this cleansing tissue since the first time I tried them! It’s been almost a year and I am always going back to repurchase this. Before this, I was using the Neutrogena Make-up remover that was so raved about by beauty bloggers. Though it was amazing, I was looking for a cheaper alternative since I was using them everyday. This etude house one was the perfect one! Reasonably priced for 50 wipes, no smell of chemical and it feels like water! It even takes off waterproof & stubborn make-up and after using it, my face always felt squeaky clean!

2. Etude House- My Beauty Tool

My Beauty Tool is a facial cleansing brush that helps deep-clean the face. Slightly wet the brush and swirl it over your face with your face cleanser. It works very well with foam facial cleansers and really helps to gently exfoliate too!

The brush is very soft and it’s so satisfying to the skin! Whenever I use this, my skin just feels rejuvenated & extra refresh! Give it a try for some more deep cleansing and fun when washing your face!

3. Etude House- Color My brows

I recently changed my hair color to a lighter brown, so I needed my eye-brows to match my hair. I picked this product to tint my eyebrows lighter brown and it does great at that! Because of it’s waxy, thick consistency, it helps to tame my brows in place as well!

4. Evian- Facial Spray

This facial spray was a random purchase, however, it is totally a necessity if you live in humid, hot or dry places. I used this on some drier winter days to give my face some moisture and in the humid days to refresh my skin! This spray is now with me wherever I go!

5. Etude House- Look at My eyes Eyeshadow (RD305) & Inglot Eye Makeup Base (01)

I have been seeing some beautiful coral reddish one shade eye shadow looks lately! I don’t have an eyeshadow of this color and so I was excited about testing this out! I had also heard good reviews on the Inglot eye primer and I had never tried any Inglot products, so it was a first for me from that brand and I have to say, I was impressed!

The color payoff of the eyeshadow was beautiful! Very pigmented, buttery & it gave such a beautiful sheen under the sunlight.

The eye primer has a creamy texture and it instantly dissolves into the skin when applying it. It has a neutral shade that does show any color, thus it’s a good primer for all skin tones!

It seems that I mostly reviewed Etude House products but I can’t help it if it’s one of the cosmetics stores closest to me! Opps!

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading my short reviews of some of these beauty products I have newly discovered and loving for a while! I would love to hear your thoughts if you have used any of these products!

Until next time lovelies!

L.A. Girl Pro Conceal Review (How-to Contour & Highlight)

Hey everyone!

I’m back with a beauty review and totally excited for this one! I am reviewing the L.A. Girl Pro conceal that I have been using for the past few months for night-outs, dinners & parties. These are actually concealers/ correctors for concealing any flaws for a more even complexion, however, it is more popularly used as highlight and contour, which I personally use it for as well. As you can see below, there is a wide color range, so I am sure everyone can find their shade!

la girl

For myself, I use creamy beige as highlight and beautiful bronze as contour. I also own toast and I have to say, it is almost identical to beautiful bronze.

Creamy beige, Beautiful bronze & Toast.

Beautiful bronze & toast are ideal for contouring and goes with many different skin shades, especially fair to medium asian skin tones. The key is not the color but the blending process! Just have to blend, blend, blend until it looks natural!

The concealers come with a brush type of applicator and you have to squeeze the tube lightly for the product. A little squeeze will do the job, if not you will just be wasting the product because it just comes in huge chunks. For my contour & highlight, I will be using creamy beige and beautiful bronze.

Here’s a “before” picture without highlighting and contouring but with some basic make-up on.

Starting the contouring & highlighting process!

I believe my face shape is a mixture of oval & diamond. I have quite high cheek bones though they are not so defined. Here is a face shape chart if you are not sure which shape you are or where to put the highlight & contour. 🙂
contouring-your-face

To be honest, I am not an expert and it is only recently I have been contouring and highlighting for fun. The way I do it, is to simply follow my natural lines, such as the line under my cheek bones, the sides of my nose and under my chin area. For the highlighting, I put them right above and under the contouring of my cheeks so that it comes off natural (without any harsh lines) when I blend them. A little on the bridge of my nose ( a straight line that goes beyond to your forehead) so that my nose pops out a little more! Just a dot on my cupid’s bow and on my chin & VOILA! Now, the key is to blend!

I use a beauty blender to blend the contour first and then I blend the highlight with another sponge so that the dark and light colors do not mix. For my nose, I actually use the real technique deluxe crease brush as it is dense and perfect for my small nose! The brush does an excellent job blending in the harsh lines on the sides of my nose and I would recommend doing this if you have a smaller nose. After everything is blended in well, I go back with the beauty blender to lightly blend everything together once more. Now time for the result…!

This is the “after” picture and you can tell that my face looks more defined and sculpted!

Overall the L.A. Pro conceal works very well for contouring and highlighting! It is creamy and of quite a thick consistency, so it blends in very well. The darker shades, like beautiful bronzer is also universal and goes with so many different skin colors. It claims to be high-definition and I do agree as it conceals blemishes and dark circles quite flawlessly if used as a concealer. It does not feel sticky or too drying and tends to stay for long hours. Best part of all is that it is very affordable!

I hope you enjoyed reading this review as much as I loved doing it! Would love to hear your thoughts on them if you have tried it or if you would be interested in trying them!

Etude House Review: Precious Mineral BB Cream & Precious Mineral Any Cushion

Hey everyone!

It seems it’s been forever since I last updated but today I’m so glad to finally have the time to sit and write my thoughts on these Etude House products that I have been using for a while. Etude house is a Korean cosmetic brand that is very affordable and has the cutest packaging. We have a lot of its shops here in Hong Kong and it seems to be very popular here!

I have tried quite a few of their products; lipsticks, lip liners, brow sticks, masks, moisturizers, make-up removers and nail polishes, but I must say that I am pretty impress with their BB Creams from the Precious Mineral collection. The ones that I use are the Any Cushion and the BB cream in the shade honey beige (W24), which seems to be the darkest tone. Cushion BB creams that comes with its own sponge-like applicator are recently highly raved about for its light-weight & natural finish and one of the best known ones in the market are from Korean cosmetic brands.

My thoughts on them are that they are very easy to apply on and it’s great for on-the-go and touch ups! However, I do have to say that it is not the best product for oily or combination skin since it tended to get very oily at the end of the day and a setting powder is a must to minimize that. Because of that, it is also not very long-lasting. Though, it has worked very well for many people, one of the main thing I didn’t really enjoyed was the application sponge, which seemed to simply pack on the product as I layered it.  It takes quite a while to sink in the skin as well, thus, as suggested by other people, I used my real- technique face expert brush instead to apply the product. This seemed to work much better for me! So if you are having the same problem, perhaps using a brush would do the trick! I quite enjoyed the product afterwards and I literally used it up in a month or so! 😀

My favourite however, has to be the Blooming fit BB cream! It works so well even in Hong Kong’s crazy humid weather! It’s supposed to be suitable for all-skin types, whether you are oily, combination or dry! It also has SPF 30, perfect for summer use! It also states its other functions, such as whitening, anti-wrinkle and anti-darkening, which I am not too sure of. It’s very light-weight and just a pea size is enough for my whole face! I simply dot it all over  my face and use the expert brush from real-technique to apply and blend. It just blends into my natural skin and enhances it, covering blemishes and redness spots on my face. The swatch in the picture looks very intense, but believe me it blends in very well! I find this to be also more long-lasting than the cushion BB cream and does not make my skin intensely oily. Overall, this is my favourite purchase from Etude House and I would highly recommend this BB cream if you want to try out products from Etude House!

If you have tried these products, let me know how it worked for you! Feel free to share your favorite BB cream too! Have a great day!

Lush Mask of Magnaminty Review

Recently, I have been a sucker for skin care. Last week when I was in Macau, I popped into the Lush Store at the Venetian and bought this amazing mask out of impulse buying and I am so glad it came to be something worth it!

The Mask of Magnaminty by Lush is a self-preserving mask, so there is no need to worry about keeping it fresh as it does its own work! As seen in the picture, one of its main ingredients is peppermint oil, which gives a smoothing cooling sensation to the skin when applied. It helps to prevent breakouts and makes skin feel rejuvenated afterwards. My skin seriously feels so smooth and soft ( like the saying ‘soft like baby’s bum’)! As the mask is quite grainy, it helps to exfoliate skin when cleansing off, extracting dead skin and clearing away dull spots! Trust me, you would want to constantly touch your skin because of how smooth and soft it feels!   One thing I love about Lush is that all its ingredients are organic, fresh and handmade! It also fights animal testing and uses recycled materials. For me, this is a bonus point that makes every Lush item not a waste at all!

I highly recommend you ladies this mask, especially for the ladies with acne-prone or oily skin! Or just try anything Lush, I am sure you too will find it worth it! This mask is definitely worth it! This is so going to be a staple in my skin care regime from now on!

What is your favourite Lush product? Be sure to share them with me! 🙂

Trip to the Body Shop <3

Hey everyone!

I can’t believe we are almost half way through 2015! Time really does not wait for you!

Anyway today, I wanted to share about my trip to the Body Shop a while back when my skin was breaking out sooo bad… like to the point my acne started hurting! I had intense redness and inflammation on the side of my cheeks. So, I thought I HAD to do something to keep it under control. I decided to try some new skin care products from the Body shop (probably not the best idea to try something new, but there is just something about new products at desperate times!).

In the hopes of magically clearing my skin acne, I thought I would try the Body Shop’s Tea Tree range, which I have heard about so much! I went ahead and bought the Tea Tree skin clearing toner and the Tea Tree oil. Tea tree oil is said to be good for clearing acnes and blemishes and the Body shop’s tea tree range seemed to be working magic on people who have tried them. The vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet moisturizer was recommended for Hong Kong’s humid weather by the sales lady, so I got that too while I was there.

I was so excited to try on the tea tree toner that night, but it shocked me how strong it was for my skin! The first time I used it, it literally burnt my face! I did hear about it being tingly to the skin and that it was not suitable for sensitive skin, however, even for my non-sensitive skin, it felt intense that I had to research online to see if it was normal! Has anyone had a similar experience? I kinda regretted buying it and did not even consider trying the tea tree oil. However, the next couple of days, the more I used it, the less tingly it felt and my skin started adjusting to it. Now, it works like magic for me too! It mattifies my skin without drying it out and my blemishes seem to have eased. I also use the tea tree oil on stubborn acnes that need a little extra care. However, I only use the toner 2/3 times a week and tea tree oil when I really break out. Overall, they do seem to work well with my acne prone skin!

The moisturizer is one of my favorite purchase from body shop! It is perfect for Summer in Hong Kong! Very light-weight and refreshing! It feels almost minty and tingly but in a good way. It keeps my skin hydrated the whole day and can also be used as a night moisturizer (does not have SPF)! It claims that it is suitable for all skin type, which I do believe because of its light-weight texture! Believe it or not, I am almost halfway through the jar!

Well, it isn’t really a shopping trip without a little bit of splurge… so I also ended up getting some amazing smelling things too! The White Musk perfume is my mum’s and my favourite Body Shop perfume of all time! It’s also so appropriate for the warmer days as it’s gives a very subtle sweetness. Also, I could not pass the shower gels that were on special on $25 HKD each, so I had to stock up on them! The almond hand cream was actually a free gift and everybody loves random free gifts, so obviously I had quite a satisfying trip at the body shop! 😀
